Jerk Hut

Jerk Hut traces back to 1993, when founder Andrew Ashmeade opened the first location on North Nebraska Avenue, determined to bring a piece of his native Jamaica to Tampa. Ashmeade invented the restaurant's now-famous red sauce and built out its signature jerk cuisine from there, growing what he calls the 'Jerk Hut family' into multiple Tampa-area locations across South Tampa and the university area. More than three decades later, Jerk Hut remains a family-run showcase of Caribbean culture — known for its jerk chicken, jerk pork, and a lively, reggae-soundtracked atmosphere that regulars describe as a trip to Jamaica without leaving Tampa.
