FROM THE KITCHEN OF

Big Ray's Fish Camp

Big Ray's Fish Camp opened in 2015 as a no-frills fish shack on Interbay Boulevard in South Tampa's Ballast Point neighborhood, founded by owner and operator Nick Cruz. What started as a counter-service spot easy to mistake for a bait-and-tackle shop quickly built a loyal following on dressed-down classics like blackened grouper sandwiches, smoked fish dip, peel-and-eat shrimp, and deviled crab, finished off with a wedge of key lime pie. The concept proved popular enough that Big Ray's opened a second location along the Tampa Riverwalk next to the Tampa Convention Center in 2019, bringing the same fish-camp menu to the city's downtown waterfront.
